How to Loosen Your Grip in a Fleeting World (Part II)
- Abraham Wright -
Matthew 16:24-25 (NASB)
They say when you decide to move, you find out who your real friends are. So true! I have moved with only a few people helping and the stress on me was a lot. I have also moved with a lot of people helping and the stress was reduced tremendously. I believe our church is on the move reaching more and more people with the Good News of Christ. As we continue this effort, it's very important that we all give and support this mission. Moving is so much easier when everybody shows up!
Acts 4:32-35 - All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.
Matthew 16:24-25 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.”
There are two different rich people that responded differently when encountering Jesus:
The first rich man white knuckled his money and left – Luke 18:22-23
The second rich man loosened his grip on his money – Luke 19:1-9

- Pray - Philippians 4:6
- Give - Ecclesiastes 11:4
- Why my family has chosen to start with the tithe
- We see it throughout the Scripture - Genesis 14:20; Malachi 3:8; Matthew 23:23
- Guards our hearts against the love of money - 1 Timothy 6:10; John 12:6
Luke 18:24-27; John 12:32-33
Luke 18:27 - Jesus said, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
